Production Planner Assistant

Job Summary: Provides departmental support in ways that guide production to meet customer demand, and maintain internal production flow. Oversees the Planning and Purchasing department ensure all production is scheduled, coordinated, monitored, & executed in accordance with customer order requirements and lead times.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engage and drive continual improvement efforts and lead all production planning and supply chain logistics efforts.
- Communicate daily with production team, quality department, and management top priorities/concerns and resolve all planning issues timely.
- Review estimates (set up times, run times, and lead times) for quotes, and audit production performance to these.
- Track and monitor productivity metrics and performance. Review and approve personnel labor hours and address productivity.
- Evaluate job profitability of manufacturing jobs by reviewing/analyzing, in detail, actual hours verse estimated hours by set up and run times for each operation. Then implement continual improvement efforts as necessary.
- Reviewing and managing customer forecasts with planning strategy to support.
- Communicate upcoming scheduling conflicts with key stakeholders and recommend solutions
- Analyze daily backlog and business reports to monitor workload and capacity requirements
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for production scheduling process, information flow and measure production rate against target
- Read and interpret design media. (3d models, Blueprints, ETC)
- Read and interpret industry and customer specifications.
- Assist in the purchase of raw materials, tooling, and hardware required for manufacture.
- Provide logistical support for required sub-vendor processing.
- Evaluate sub-vendor performance.
- Work alongside the engineering and design team to provide manufacturing support.
- Creation of detailed work orders and procedures.
- Attaches identifying tags to material and/or marks them with pertinent information.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Team Player
- Strong attention to detail.
- Manufacturing background (Research and development is a plus)
- Basic knowledge of aerospace principles and concepts (Plus)
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to communicate to all levels of the company.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet.
- Ability to work (sit and/or stand) at a desk for majority of the work day; walking and/or standing may be required for the remainder of the work day. Length of time performing these physical requirements may vary from day to day and task to task
- Ability to lift 15 pounds.
Credentials and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in production planning, logistics or related field, or 1 - 3 year of production planning experience
- Must be a US citizen.
